Post-Life: A mixed media series

This series of mixed media pieces was developed this past winter of 2025 and then expanded upon during an Art Residency in Mexico City. I decided to delve into some highly experimental mixed media works, which focused on manipulating photography and paint, to create these figures that are a mash up of pop culture imagery, fashion, and bone, giving them a dystopian feel.

There are many techniques included in these pieces, but mainly I used a photo transfer technique, blending different imagery to form clothing and basic anatomy. I also painted into these areas and used some simple collage from materials sourced in various markets throughout Mexico City. The purpose of doing these on loose lengths of canvas, was to make them easy to travel with, and also lent themselves to experimenting with a sewn yarn frame, and a bamboo anchor on the top to hang the work.

Overall, this series was creating this illusive figures, reminiscent of a world we once knew, and one that has yet to come. These works are within 3 x 7’ each.
